Weekend Update

I spent all day Friday baking, which was interesting. I haven't had a marathon baking day alone with Ellen yet. She had fun at my feet- trying to follow me around and digging through the drawers. Either my child is a genious, or those child-proof drawer locks are a joke (I think it's the latter). Ellen just pulls out as much as she can through the gap, and working to get at things keeps her entertained for a long time.

Saturday I threw the shower for Jenny, Josh, and baby Emily (that's where all the baking went). I think everyone had fun, and I'm glad everything came together well. They got lots of good stuff for the baby!

Ellen had a lot of fun playing with the balloons after the shower was over. Between her and the dog, we were all entertained for awhile.

Today, we went to the pumpkin patch at Sauvie island with Eric, Brenda, Caden, George, Berndadette, and Isla. I was really excited to make up for the disappointing experience we had earlier. It was a beautiful day, we took our hay ride, and we were glad to spend some time with our friends who just had babies. Ellen was much more excited this time too. She had a good time being walked from pumpkin to pumpkin.

Here are George and Bernadette with Isla. I can't believe how little she is! I forgot how stressful it is to leave the house with such a little one. Caden was hungry, so Brenda spent the whole time feeding him. Someday I'll actually get a picture of him!

Thanks sooooooooooooo much for such a wonderful shower! It all turned out so perfectly and we couldn't have asked for a better one! What great pictures you got of everything too....that one of Ellen and the balloons makes me laugh just thinking about her hair getting all static-y! And the pumpkin patch pictures turned out really great too! Glad you guys had a much better trip this time--and that you got to see the new little ones too!

The shower looked really fun! Sorry I had to miss. :-( And OMG, that cake!! Erika, you should seriously go into catering or open a bakery!

I agree about the bakery... but it might be hard to sell a diaper cake at one. Erika got the idea to make a diaper cake and serve pumpkin and raspberry breads. Soooo... bakery still works.

Ha ha, ooops. I thought the cake was just really neat frosted texturing. Still, past-cakes have proved edible and artworky! I still vote for a bakery. :-) (I can't bake a thing from scratch...my mom still ships me her homemade coffee cakes when I ask for it. Last time I tried to make a pie for Thanksgiving 5 years ago, I messed it up and it was all soupy!)

Congrats on the success of the baby shower!!! It was so great to run into the three of you at the pumpkin patch! Quite hilarious that this is the first time in 4 years that it happened! Ellen is becoming quite the ham when it comes to pictures!! I love it! And I have to agree that those child locks really don't work to well, but then again Ellen has two very smart parents... maybe she is a prodigy :)!!!
